Windows Vista is the successor to Windows XP. Development was completed November 8, 2006, and was released to consumers over the following three months.
Windows Vista introduced the Windows Aero interface, giving a transparent design to title bars and other features. Vista also introduced Windows Search, Windows DVD Maker, and redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista’s final release was on October 18, 2016, with the Service Pack 2 security update.
