Windows 7 is the successor to Windows Vista. It was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and to consumers on October 22, 2009.
Windows 7 was widely popular with extended support lasting until January 14, 2020, well after Windows 10 was released. Windows 7 included enhancements of Windows Aero and redesigned the taskbar. Windows 7 also introduced the Action Center, made tweaks to User Account Control, added the HomeGroup file sharing system and libraries.
