What Is 4Tube.com?

4Tube (4tube.com) is a porn tube site. As of December 2022, the site 4tube.com gets an estimated 7.2 million monthly views, according to SimilarWeb. The Wayback Machine estimates 4tube.com was founded on April 28, 2001. I can see 4tube.com received a little bit of traffic in 2001 but then got no traffic at all for five years between the beginning of 2002 and the end of 2006. Since 2010, its traffic has been consistent. The Wayback Machine has saved the site 4tube.com 1,876 times as of February 20, 2023.

Is 4Tube.com Safe?

I conducted a series of malware tests to find out if 4tube.com is safe and legit. Here are the results:

I installed the Malwarebytes Browser Guard on my Edge browser and was able to browse the site 4tube.com without any issues.

To check this further I ran malware scans with Malwarebytes and Spybot on my computer after browsing the site 4tube.com and they returned no malware detection. I also ran a system-wide scan with Microsoft Defender and no malware was found.

To try to confirm that the site is clean, I also checked the site 4tube.com on the online malware scanner Sucuri and it returned with no major issues. You can see the same here: https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/4tube.com

4Tube.com Sucuri results

Sucuri says the site 4tube.com is a medium security risk because it runs an outdated PHP version (PHP under 7.4.6). The site being outdated makes it a high risk for hackers with malicious intent to find a vulnerability. However, it does not mean that the site itself is malicious. In fact, Sucuri says no malware was found during the scan. It also says no defacements, injected spam, or internal server errors were found. Moreover, I can see that no security vendors associated with Sucuri have blacklisted the site 4tube.com, meaning that they don’t think the site is malicious.

Some improvements could be made such as solving the several missing security headers that I have listed below:

Missing security header for ClickJacking Protection. Alternatively, you can use Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors ‘none’.

Missing security header to prevent Content Type sniffing.

Missing Strict-Transport-Security security header.

Missing Content-Security-Policy directive. We recommend to add the following CSP directives (you can use default-src if all values are the same): script-src, object-src, base-uri, frame-src

Leaked PHP version. Your site is displaying your PHP version in the HTTP headers. Please set expose_php = Off.

The site 4tube.com should also consider creating an SPF record to stop spam from abusing its email address.

However, these minor issues don’t change the overall grade of the scan from being a medium security risk.

Lastly, I ran a malware scan with VirusTotal on the domain 4tube.com and no security vendor has flagged the site as malicious. You can see the same here: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/domain/4tube.com

4Tube.com VirusTotal results

In conclusion, 4Tube is not malicious. No security vendor associated with Sucuri or VirusTotal has flagged the site 4tube.com as malicious. However, Sucuri says the site 4tube.com is running an outdated PHP version which is why it is graded as a medium security risk. The outdated site is vulnerable to hacks which means the site could become compromised.
