When I analyzed porncomixonline.net, the homepage features didn’t appear to be working: there were no thumbnails and there was no content; only buttons. I clicked on a button that I thought would lead to content and then there was a category landing page filled with lots of comic thumbnails. The category landing pages were high quality and featured high-quality thumbnails. I liked the thumbnail features, but I couldn’t tell the difference between what it meant to click on the thumbnail title and the button beneath the rating that also featured the comic’s title and usually another word that was perhaps a character (e.g., a title “Zoey from Left 4 Dead” and button “Ganassa – Zoey from Left 4 Dead”). Even if your regular users do understand the content, consider the idea that a random user may not. You want to ensure the signals generated from random users are also positive because much of your traffic is likely to come from random users checking out your stuff and how they interpret your site is important to your rankings. It’s always best to spell out your features for everyone so that new users understand what is on the page because those who already know will happily overlook the obvious information and will happily still use your site’s content.
