DESCRIPTION
When I analyzed amateur8.com, I liked the attempt to create engaging content on the homepage with a Videos Being Watched Now section above the fold for certain video thumbnails. I can understand how a webmaster may find better user engagement from videos being watched now compared to just the most recent uploads. That said, the most recent uploads are also an important section, and that’s why amateur8.com still has it further down the homepage. The amateur8.com single post pages were very good in general, but I would prefer seeing some related videos above the fold rather than only below the fold, That said, if you are going to keep it below the fold, you want the web design to show that there’s potentially more content worth scrolling to find, and I thought the amateur8.com design did that quite well. I could see the video, and some related metadata above the fold and some of that data was overflowing below the fold, so users could understand that there was more detail below the fold, which is important otherwise they may not scroll. As it is, many users still won’t scroll, which is why I recommend having some more internal links above the fold to help decrease the bounce rate.
