Universal Windows Platform apps (UWP) are apps that run on all devices that use Microsoft-owned services such as Windows 10, Windows 10 mobile, Xbox and HoloLens.

One of the upsides you have with universal Windows apps is that they each come with a Settings menu that is similarly easy to find.

The following tutorial demonstrates how to open and change the settings for Windows applications when you’re using a version of the Windows 10 operating system.

How to Change Settings of Default Apps in Windows 10

1. Open the Windows app you want to find the settings for, and then click on the Menu icon (three lines/hamburger icon).

Note: Sometimes in more recent versions of Windows 10, you can get access to the Settings icon from the same left menu without having to click the Menu icon first. In the screenshot below, for example, you can see the Settings icon toward the bottom of the left menu.

2. Click on the Settings link.

3. The Settings will now be visible on the page. Depending on the app, you may have several tabs worth of settings that you can check out. With the Weather app in the example, all settings are listed under the General tab.

You can now close the Universal Windows app and continue using your computer if you like.

That’s all.
