If you haven’t heard of SkyDrive yet, it is (or at least was) Microsoft’s name they had on the cloud storage system used by Windows Phone owners.

The challengers were a company called British Sky Broadcasting group, or BSkyB as they are known. They argued that the use of Sky in the Redmond company’s title was infringing their name.

There is no word on what the new name Microsoft plan on using, however, they have ever so kindly been allowed to continue using the SkyDrive brand at the mean time.

There was also an undisclosed amount of money handed over between the two firms.

“We’re glad to have a resolution of this naming dispute, and will continue to deliver the great service our hundreds of millions of customers expect, providing the best way to always have your files with you.”-Microsoft

Update: We can confirm the new name chosen is OneDrive.
