The hard reset comes in handy when it comes to wiping off all of your data. Well, that’s literally what it does. It restores your device to the original factory condition. Now, why would you want to reset your device or apply such a daunting operation? Well, at times you get carried away with the whole customization freedom that the Android world has to offer.

You customize it to an extent where you don’t even like it and don’t know where to undo all the settings. Just apply the hard reset and it will restore all your settings to default. It is one of the easiest methods to fix any bugs or lags on your device. If your device is behaving badly or if it runs slow, apply a factory reset and thing will be better. Hopefully. If you have forgotten your password and can’t access your device, you can factory reset it. It will remove the password protection. The factory reset option comes handy during the rooting and flashing guides as well.

LG G4

One thing is for certain that this process is official. It will not void your warranty. But on the downside, it wipes off everything. Literally EVERYTHING. So it is wise to backup all your data either on the SD card or on the computer. You can also make a backup of all your important messages, call logs, contacts, photos, videos, files notes, documents etc. on the Cloud or use dedicated apps for that.

Once we have cleared that up, we move on the-the steps.

The Direct Approach:

Under the settings menu, the factory reset option lies in almost every smartphone these days. This approach is the easiest and the direct method. Just head to Menu>Settings>Backup and Restore>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything. Agree to the alerts and wait while your phone reboots.

Hardware Buttons:

This again is quite easy and utilizes a hardware button combination. IT is beneficial when you have forgotten your phone password or can’t access the UI of your device. Here’s how.

  1. Press the Power button once and select “Power Off” from the menu.
  2. Wait till your phone completely shuts down.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons both at the same time.
  4. Release only the power key when the LG logo appears on the screen, but just for one second.
  5. Immediately press the Power button again.
  6. Release all the buttons when the Factory Reset menu is displayed on your screen.
  7. Use Volume rockers to navigate and Power button to select/confirm.
