Even though they do not offer shipping as a substitute for many places outside of the United States, Amazon is still a website I love to browse to see what’s hot at the moment. Right now it’s the Google Nexus 5 that is coming out in red, and if you’re willing to go on a 2 year phone plan, you can own this handset for just $29 when shopping at Amazon. The red colored version is a good idea to buy because it is only coming out now to many phone carriers, and that means you will have a new feature that couldn’t previously be owned back in 2013 when this device first came out. This deal by Amazon does not come in the red alternative, but it could be the reason behind why we see the price reduction for the Black and White models. Arguably my favorite version is the black one, and the white looks nice too. It is just cool that they are still making new colors of this device that keeps it feeling new.

When it comes to phone plans I always recommend people shop at the high-end instead of the low-end because they become better deals. The Nexus 5 is a mid-range phone that has a lot going for it and for that reason I would not hesitate to go on a 2 year plan for it, especially at the low price of $29 offered in this deal. LG manufactured the nexus 5, but it is a Google owned phone and because of that, Google loves to showcase it and make sure it is running with the latest firmware and so on and it is for this reason that it becomes such an attractive phone to buy.

The direct competition for this Smartphone is the Moto X. Funnily enough the Moto X is also another mobile that I have high up on my list of good quality and value for money phones to buy last year in 2013 when it was brand new. As mid-range handsets, both of these were outstanding in 2013, and we should now start to see deals as we head into 2014 where they are offered even cheaper like we are seeing here today.

To keep you updated, the Nexus 5 is running Android 4.4 KitKat as soon as you take it home with you and take it out of the packing. It has a 5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution. It has a 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and a back-illuminated sensor. The front-facing camera is 1.3 megapixels. For the hardware, the system chip is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974.

As you can tell by looking at the specs, it has high-end hardware inside a mid-range priced Smartphone and there’s nothing negative we can add other than there was a battery drain issue early on when it first came out. Google worked on a fix for this and the problem is gone.
