Firefox has been updated to version 89.0. This is a major update and as suggested by the notation is the first release of Firefox 89.

Arguably the best feature to come from Firefox 89.0 is the changes made toward the top of the browser. Immediately as you open the browser window you’ll notice the tab region is much cleaner than in previous designs. And it’s also now more feature-rich as well: the tabs will show you extra information, as Firefox sees fit, that allows you to cue more information from the tabs to help with better navigation when multiple tabs are open.

What Firefox had to say regarding Firefox 89.0:

Say hello to a fresh new Firefox, designed to get you where you want to go even faster. We’ve redesigned and modernized the core experience to be cleaner, more inviting, and easier to use.

Beginning in 89, you’ll notice a number of changes, including:

Simplified browser chrome and toolbar: Less frequently used items removed to focus on the most important navigation items.

Clear, streamlined menus: Re-organized and prioritized menu content according to usage. Updated labels and removed iconography.

Updated prompts: Infobars, panels, and modals have a cleaner design and clearer language.

Inspired tab design: Floating tabs neatly contain information and surface cues when you need them, like visual indicators for audio controls. The rounded design of the active tab supports focus and signals the ability to easily move the tab as needed.

Native context menus: Context menus on macOS are now native and support Dark Mode.

There are also some other features for macOS which have been improved and fixed.

You can download Firefox 89 from the Mozilla website.

The Firefox browser will automatically update itself in the background when it’s closed. If the browser is open and you want to update it, you can navigate to the Settings > Help > About Firefox, and then the browser will automatically check for any new updates.
