According to Claudia Lopez of OSINTGuardian (a website fighting child abuse), the owners of Smutty were allowing known pedophiles to upload pictures of children between 5 and 17 years of age. This probably has something to do with the site no longer being on the internet.
The owner of Smutty sold the domain to a shell company that appeared in the Panama Papers. In other words, once the owner was in trouble, they sold the Smutty company to unsuspecting buyers with a lot of money.
I'm not able to uncover why the website went offline. SemRush shows that the traffic remained steady up until a big drop-off in May 2024. Smutty.com was offline by November 2024. It could be that the first owner sold just before it was flagged as spam once the bad news came out, and the new owner cut their losses on the purchase quickly once they were left with no traffic by Nov 2024.
