The homepage of direct.playstation.com told me to choose my country/language. The languages it offered were European in general, and then there was an option to select English (United Kingdom) at the end of the list. Why would a subdomain of the official Sony PlayStation website only offer European languages when nothing is noting it is a European section of the site? Is PlayStation only displaying this subdomain to European users? It seemed strange to me, but people in the US and Canada can still select the UK version of English. I was then redirected to https://direct.playstation.com/en-gb. Above the fold had a button to preorder the latest PlayStation and below the fold were links to buy PlayStation-related items that were hot right now to buy. There were also exclusives and other items to discover. The more I browsed, the more it appeared like the usual PlayStation website.

After choosing the appropriate language, it directs you to the direct.playstation.com proper homepage that looks like the real PlayStation website because it is. You can use it to shop for games and consoles as you would the normal PlayStation site.
