Talented hacker pod2g, otherwise known as Cyril took Twitter by storm yesterday when he made the call for Apple to make iOS more open. The hacker, instrumental in the Jailbreak of the iPhone 4S, managed to get #weWantAnOpenIOS trending worldwide in a matter of hours in an attempt to reason with the Californian software giant.
‘If you agree that iOS needs more openness, why don’t we make #weWantAnOpenIOS trend on twitter! That would be our answer to Apple.’

At present, there is no iOS 6 Jailbreak making it impossible to install unauthorized applications on the device. Apple is ever so steadily losing its devotes. With an increasing number of long-term Apple users making the switch to Android devices such as the Galaxy 3 in search of the ability to customize and tweak their devices, the plea has been made to Apple to allow more openness to their iOS. A partition has been started to support the movement with signatures rapidly rising, the count is currently sitting on 2,224. Pod2g even tweeted directly to Co-Founder Steve Wozniak in a bid to see the movement gain momentum.
‘@stevewoz Users need more openness with their iOS device. What do you think? #weWantAnOpenIOS.’

Pod2g seems increasingly positive about the idea and has even added that he believes Apple will respond to these requests.
‘I have faith in Apple, I am an Apple Fan since ages now! #weWantAnOpenIOS.’

Although there has been no word from the Apple camp as yet, it’s hard not to remain positive with pod2g leading the battle, there is no doubt that if anyone will be able to generate enough attention around the call for an open iOS, then this will be the man to do it.
