Only two days after we announced that the Moto X, the Smartphone from the Google and Motorola partnership, was officially coming to Australia, we now can name our first official phone carrier that will be picking this handset up. Telechoice is the company I’m talking about, and they’re one of the last ones we were expecting to see on the list.

Telechoice is selling the Moto X for $599 and could be launching it as soon as next month across the country. The Moto X has a 4.7 inch display and a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The technology inside the screen is AMOLED. It has a Motorola X8 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and a Dual core, 1700 MHz, Krait processor. It also has a 10 megapixel snapper. As we already reported in our first post, we are only expecting this handset to arrive in a black and white options. There is also no word on whether the Moto Maker option that lets you choose your own accessories, colours and patterns is coming at all. The United States could choose from green, dark blue, light blue, gray, pink, and more.

The Moto X is a mid-ranged phone that was remarkably hot when it came out in 2013. It  is nevertheless a long way from becoming twelve months old, and because of that it seems the Australian carriers are taking full advantage and offering up prices that many people are likely to refuse. One of the reasons this Smartphone was so hot it was amazing value for money, but if you take that away, suddenly you need to think whether it  is worth buying or not. There is an upside to that, though, and that  is it will entice more people into picking this phone up on a plan. It is what these carriers are hoping happens because in Australia phones come free or very close to being free when customers go on a 24 month plan.
