If you happen to own the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, you should keep an eye on the notification bar as a new software update is rolling out in your direction. The new update from Google is boosting your OS to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The build number is  LWX48P. You probably know Lollipop from your smartphones as a few of them are running lollipop already. In fact, the “Hello Moto” company were the first manufacture after the Google owned Nexus devices to find Lollipop arriving over the air. Even the Google Play Edition of the Moto G phone is running 5.0.1 today.

Similarly, the Moto 360 watches are finding Lollipop arriving over the air. That’s about where the familiarity ends, though, as the software for smartphone and smartwatch dramatically change. Fortunately for us we have a full official change-log issued by Motorola telling us everything that’s inside.

Moto 360

According to the release note, the Moto 360 is getting third-party watch faces, Quick Settings, battery and storage stats, UI improvements, bug fixes and Android 5.0 Lollipop so applications and programs run seamlessly from phone to watch. You can read the release notes from here.

Installing the LWX48P Lollipop update is simple: tap the “download” button, followed by “install now” once the system  notification automatically arrives for you. Wait for the flashing to finish before touching any buttons and don’t switch the watch off until it’s complete. The device reboots by itself and once it’s running again you will see the new software.

The Moto 360 is just one of the devices finding the same update. We know the Sony smartwatch 3, G Watch R, Samsung Gear Live, Asus Zenwatch and the LG G Watch are also included. Furthermore, the OTA files are available to download. However, the Moto 360 is not one device you can flash because it doesn’t come with a connection to the PC unless you water to break the water resistance feature.

You don’t have to back up before installing Lollipop. As usual, we always want to know your thoughts, so hit up the comments section and tell us what you are thinking.
