If you are the lucky owner of the newest smartphone from Samsung and want to have access to custom ROMs then we have the guide to show you how to install ClockworkMod Recovery on the S3.

It was only a few short weeks ago we brought you the how-to root Samsung Galaxy S3, and if you have done this, it is now time to install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Galaxy S3. Just follow the guide below.

As with all tutorials please back up you device beforehand and proceed at your own risk. ConsumingTech will not take any responsibility for any loss of data or damage which occurs to your device while you follow this guide.

Please note: Your Samsung Galaxy S3 must be rooted before you can complete this process. If it is not, the installation of ClockworkMod Recovery will not work. To root your Samsung Galaxy S3 you can follow the guide here. Also, ensure you have over 50% battery on your device so the process can complete.

Install ClockworkMod Recovery On Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300

Step 1. First you will need to download the following:

  • ODIN tool HERE
  • ODIN Flashable Recovery File HERE

Step 2. Once you have downloaded all the necessary files, you will need to save them somewhere easy to locate like your desktop.

Step 3. Then Extract both the ODIN file and the Recovery ZIP archives and place them on your desktop also.

Step 4. You will need to switch off your smartphone, then Reboot it into Download mode. To achieve this, simply hold down ‘Volume Down’ + ‘Home’ + ‘Power’ at the same time.

Step 5. Press the ‘Volume Up’ button when the warning screen appears and this will put your device into download mode.

Step 6. Using the smartphone’s USB cable, connect it to your PC.

Step 7. Double click on  the ‘Odin3 v1.85.exe’ file which you will find in the files you extracted in Step 3. This will launch the Odin tool.

Step 8. Select the ‘PDA’ tab from within the Odin tool and then  locate and select the recovery file  (*.tar). This should also be saved on your desktop from Step 3. It is very important that from within the Odin tool, you do not check any additional boxes.

Step 9. Then press the ‘Start’ button.

Step 10. This will begin the flashing of ClockworkMod Recovery on your smartphone. Your smartphone will reboot once it has completed which means it is now safe to disconnect it.
