These are the steps to unlocking the Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition bootloader. You must unlock the Turbo Edition’s bootloader if you are to advance and install a custom recovery or get root access to the device.
Both a new recovery and root access is available already, so you can follow those guides after you complete this one.
Files You Need
- You must set up ADB on your computer. The ADB is all you need from the Android SDK package and it comes with the required fastboot. We have the guide for you to install ADB on any of the three major operating system, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and any version of Linux. You can learn how to set up ADB for Windows, ADB for Mac or ADB for Linux for your computer.
- Download the universal ADB driver directly to the computer desktop. You will need the driver along with your ADB to follow this guide.
- Unlocking the bootloader voids the Motorola warranty. It’s the same way for all OEMs and manufacturers generally speaking. Sometimes you can find OEMs who will let you root the device if you ask them, but you will need to ask them first.
