One of the masterminds for Samsung Galaxy hacking is Chainfire. He is the developer who created the CF Root tool. He’s also the guy who created one of the best rooted apps in the world too in the triangle Away app. With Triangle Away, you can install the app on your device and it will keep count on how many times you have flashed custom firmware files on your Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 device.
On many Samsung devices, if you are running a custom firmware, you will notice a yellow triangle during the booting process. With triangle Away that yellow triangle is gone. That’s just one example of why it’s great to root the Samsung Galaxy Grand. There are many more apps out there to use like cleaning up your smartphone with Greenify.
Files You Need
- You must unlock the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 bootloader before you can root the device using the CF-Root tool.
- Download the CF-Root tool for the Grand 2 device from this page.
- Download the Samsung USB Drivers from this page.
- Download the Odin flashing tool packages from this page if you need to try using a different Odin version. If the guide doesn’t work for the version of Odin you are using, try installing a different version and it should root the device.
- You must follow the guide on a Windows computer. It does not work using Linux or Mac OS X operating systems.
- The CF-Root exploit is created for the galaxy Grand 2 running Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware. We recommend finding Android 4.4.4 KitKat and flashing it with Odin before following this guide.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE SM-G710S
- Download the rooting package to the Windows computer.
- Open the Downloads folder and drag the CF-Root package over to the desktop.
- Right-click over the file and select the “extract here” option from the list.
- Copy the same steps again and this time get the Odin package on the desktop and extract it too.
- Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone and reboot it in the download mode.
- Reboot the device by pressing and holding the Power + Home + Volume Down buttons for download mode.
- Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable you normally use to charge the device.
- Look for the ID: COM port to change color before proceeding. The color means your drivers are working.
- Click the AP or the PDA button and browse the desktop for the CF-Root executable file.
- Leave the default settings as they are from the Odin user-interface. These are the default settings after installing a new version of the Odin flashing tool.
- Click the Start button and the Odin package will now flash that CF-Auto-Root exploit on your device.
- Wait until you get the pass message from the Odin message box before unplugging from the computer. Your Galaxy Grand device should reboot automatically to. Those who have a device that did not reboot automatically must reboot manually the normal way.
- Take control of your Google account after the reboot and install the root checker app.
You may continue browsing the Google Play Store for other root-requiring apps like the Tasker application.
