Are you a Samsung Galaxy Avant owner? Isn’t it frustrating when you are limited to the things that you can do with your smartphone? Do you want to root your device but can’t find out how to do it?

If the answer to those questions is yes then we at Tech Chomps know exactly how you feel and we’ve gone out of our way to find out how you can root your Galaxy Avant. I know you probably think it’s going to be an incredibly difficult process and you’re going to be stuck for hours reprogramming your phone, but believe me, it’s not!

If you follow these simple instructions your device will be rooted quicker than you can say “root my phone now, please” OK, it might take a little longer than that!

Details of Note

  • Rooting your device will void the warranty on it and you do this at your own risk. We won’t be held responsible for the consequences of following this procedure.
  • Make sure that you are using the SM-G386T version of the Galaxy Avant.
  • Verify your Galaxy Avant has at least 40% of battery before you start to root your device.
  • Confirm you have the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers from the official Sammy website. You’ll find them from the ‘downloads’ page.
  • Navigate your way over to the Settings menu and enter the Developer Options menu. Now check the box to enable USB Debugging Mode.

Files Required

  1. Firstly you need to have a Windows PC, this won’t work on other operating systems.
  2. Visit the official Sammy website to download the drivers:

  3. Turn on the computer and download the Odin file to the desktop. Unzip the package and have it running:

  4. Download the file you need for the rooting:
    Root Package
  5. Download the Team Win TWRP Recovery image or mirro and save it to your desktop:

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Avant SM-G386T

  1. Right-click Odin and select Extract Here, then do the same with Root Package. This will extract the files on your desktop.
  2. Double-click on the Odin icon to launch it.
  3. Wait for Odin to load up then click PDA and choose the Root Package file you’ve just extracted to your desktop.
  4. Make sure that Repartition is unticked, if it is ticked then click on the box to untick it.
  5. Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time should be ticked, if they aren’t then click on the boxes to tick them.
  6. Turn off the device.
  7. Hold down Volume Down, Home and Power at the same time to switch your device back on.
  8. When you see a warning message on the screen press Volume Up and it will switch into download mode.
  9. Plug your device into the PC using a USB cable.
  10. Click the Start button in Odin and it will start flashing the root package on the device.
  11. The device will reboot as soon as it’s finished.
  12. And we’re done!!

How easy was that?  Now that you’ve rooted your Samsung Galaxy Avant you can start to install root-only apps on it.

How to Install TWRP Custom Recovery Samsung Galaxy Avant SM-G386T

  1. If you want to have a custom ROM on your device you’ll need to flash a custom recovery on your device.  So follow these simple instructions to flash a customer recovery onto your device.
  2. Double-click on Odin again to start it back up.
  3. Click PDA and choose TWRP Recovery from your desktop.
  4. Make sure Repartition isn’t ticked, if it is ticked then click on the box to untick it.
  5. Make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are ticked, if they aren’t ticked then click on the boxes to tick them.
  6. Turn off the device
  7. Hold down Volume Down, Home and Power at the same time to switch your device back on.
  8. When you see a warning message on the screen press Volume Up and it will switch into download mode.
  9. Plug your device into the PC using a USB cable.
  10. Click the Start button in Odin and it will start flashing TWRP Recovery onto the device.
  11. The device will reboot as soon as it’s finished.

That’s the end of the steps. You can download the root checker application from the Google Play Store and check if it’s working. If Odin says it failed, you should try downloading the up to date USB drivers. Being a Galaxy device from the Sammy range, that means heading over to the official Samsung website and downloading them. There are other third-party links available.
