The lads over at Android Authority have managed to get their hands on the Nexus 5 already and decided now was as good a time as ever to see what kind of punishment it can withstand.
These drop tests are generally straight forward — see what it can do from all sides starting with the ones you are more confident about it being OK with so it can continue to the rest. This is generally why you will see them choosing to give it a go on its backside before anything else.
You might notice the campus in the background because of the tasty treat statues in the ground? Yes, it’s Google’s own front yard, they decided to go HAM on.
To remind you what the Nexus 5 has to offer, there’s a Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 450 MHz, a quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400 CPU, and finally the Snapdragon 800 chipset that leads the way still today. One reason you really won’t want to drop this phone and break it is because it comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. When released that was the latest Android OS.
