It had a good run while it last, but all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately for Droid RAZR MAXX HD owners this is also going to be the case in terms of firmware. Motorola made the announcement overnight that there will be no more updates to come and they will be putting and end to it all starting from the last Android 4.1.2. If there is any newer, it will only be a newer build number and nothing more. It is not going past the 4.1.2, ever.
It’s a little bit sad for consumers who are watching the efforts of things like 4.3 and soon to be 4.4 KitKat come to light, but as mobiles age they must slow down the software with it. It did have a good run and when it first came out it was a really great device that was packed with good value.
It was first released out of the box with 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and has come a long way since those days.
Early in 2013 there were talks of there being a July invitation which would bring along something that made it have an extra bit of battery life. That didn’t manage to come to life, though.
If you haven’t tried out custom ROM’s before or are growing tired of looking at what’s on your screen that will always be an option for you from here on out.
