The CyanogenMod team believe it or not was finding survival a struggle. Their hands were out on all their official forums for donations and handouts to try and fund some servers and server admins. Luckily a loyal group of Android fans has managed to keep them afloat.

The goal for donations was met and the CyanogenMod team was all set to take on the latest challenge of building nightlies for CM 9. Nightlies for CM 9 is made for the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich specifically for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Motorola XOOM.

Step 1. Download the required zip file for CyanogenMod 9. Read and choose carefully to make sure you download the right zip file for your device!
Galaxy Nexus GSM/CDMA
Nexus S GSM/CDMA
Motorola XOOM WiFi/LTE

Step 2. Put the zip file under /sdcard on the device’s hard drive.

Step 3. The next step is to shut down your device and boot it into ClockworkMod. The process is a simple one using a combination of buttons, however it’s different for each device, so you will have to search around the net to find which device is right for you. With a little research, you should be able to come up with the answer fairly easily.

Step 4. Now it’s always a good idea to do a NANDroid backup.

Step 5. This next step is important so stay tuned in. Now you must delete  data/factory reset from the main menu. Then from the advanced menu, you must delete cache and  Dalvik cache respectively.

Step 6. Now for the trickiest part. Follow this set of steps in sequence to finish the process  install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard and choose the .zip file that you originally saved back during step 1 and step 2.

Step 7. Now last but not least go back to the main menu and click on  reboot system now.
