The Windows 11 operating system has been updated to build 22572.1. This preview build to the Windows Insider channel was released on March 9, 2022.
Build 22572.1 has added two new inbox apps: Clipchamp and Microsoft Family. Of the two, Clipchamp has been much more discussed on social media. Here is what Microsoft says regarding Clipchamp:
Clipchamp is our new video editor focused on making video creation easy, fast, and fun. Clipchamp is equipped with all the basic tools you’d expect, like trimming and splitting, as well as more pro-style features like transitions and animated text. For real-time content capture, there are also built-in webcam and screen recorders.
The Microsoft Family app is centred around family safety, which doesn’t excite most people outside of relatively new mothers and fathers.
Microsoft has also mentioned an update that will soon be rolling out to Windows Search. The new Search window will include “highlighting interesting moments in time” and generally fill out the search box a lot more than it is currently. We have posted pictures of the updated Search on our Twitter profile. To make way for the new highlights, it looks like Microsoft is removing the “quick searches” section that occupies the lower right side of the search box today.

I think adding a video editing app was a really good idea. I’m not a video editor myself so I don’t feel competent enough to judge, but I know Vlogging seems to be very popular these days. I probably spend more time on YouTube these days than on any other website. I’m always watching the news et cetera. And I can see that a lot of independent sources are creating more and more YouTube channels. So my prediction is that Clipchamps will be the new ClipArt, though I don’t like the name as much. The logo could do with some work also. It looks like it’s just been written and in a font I don’t really like.

It appears to be an extensive video editing app. The social media editing part looks like it has a lot of potential. I tried using it for a while and gave up, but that could be because I have no experience in video editing.
