The official Android 5.0 Lollipop is rolling out OTA to Android devices such as the Google Nexus range with others to follow shortly. You can wait for the over the air signals to come your way, install the official factory images manually or grab the official zip files with the new-found firmware inside. Since the latest software Android is producing is ready to go, Android Wear must also see timely updates so that it supports the new software and further enhances the material design.
Today, Android Wear is updated to version 1.0.4 and you can install the APK file from here. Moreover, the official update is available from the Google Play Store here. That way you can download the application as you usually would without any hassles. Nevertheless, we know countless reasons or people preferring to role with the APK file and not the app.
The new build comes with bug fixes, changes with some of the options available and of course some Android Wear design elements so that it looks like it fits with Lollipop design.
You know the drill: download the 1.0.4.1580939 APK file to the desktop of your computer. Install a file manager on the Android-based smartphone of your choice. We recommend using Open Manager since its Open source and free. From there navigate to the Settings > Application and enable the “Unknown Sources” option. Those using ice Cream Sandwich and above will find the same option from Settings > Security > Unknown Sources. Fetch the USB cable and connect the phone to the computer using the wire. Now transfer the 1.04 APK file to the phones SD card. Find the file on the phone and tap to open. Select the “Open App manager” option. Follow the prompts to finish the installation.
