People love to compare mobile phones before buying so they have what they consider the best phone money could buy them. To meet consumers’ needs, phone companies have something called benchmark tests. These tests show how a mobile phone performs under certain conditions. For example, a significant part of the test shows the CPU and GPU performance — two pivotal pieces of hardware found inside most modern-day Smartphones.

Samsung was accused of cheating these benchmark tests so that the results show inflated statistics. They didn’t manage to do this by changing the stats on the scorecard though. They found a way to make the hardware work better during the tests.

With the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, Samsung has gotten rid of this artificial stat boosting technique for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 and surprisingly the results are still very good, leaving you to wonder why they did it in the first place.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was the first ever device to have 3GB of RAM included. Part of the reason the South Korean multinational conglomerate company did this was because of the new 1080p full HD display that they thought needed the power behind it. They also made a NEO Note 3 that comes with an S-Pen stylus and hexa-core Exynos processor.

Along with the new fix for artificial benchmark results, the Android 4.4.2 brings in Music Album Art being displayed on the lock screen even when the handset is locked so you can see what is playing. There’s launcher Settings now, extra stability of the user interface and something that many people aren’t aware of is that you will have some extra memory left over because this update is only 353MB in size which is roughly 200MB smaller than the Jelly Bean 4.3 update. Owners of the S4 should still be seeing this update coming over the air with many of you already having received it. If it’s the S4 LTE variant you have, the update has already been pushed for Sprint, AT&T and US Cellular. The two remaining carriers till waiting for it are T-Mobile and Verizon.

Galaxy Note 3 owners will have to keep waiting a while longer for 4.4.2 KitKat. The reason is US Cellular and T-Mobile are the only carriers who have released it.
