The Sony Xperia E, E Dual and E1 are another great range of smartphones from Sony that have a strong following. They’re obviously;y not the pick of the bunch with Android 4.1 under the hood, but they still work well as an affordable option with HD Voice. The new voice feature received considerable marketing as its main selling point and it took away the attention from the lack of a quad-core processor, low resolution camera, low resolution pixel density in the display, no front-racing ‘selfie’ shooter and no flash for the camera. However, it still offers an entry into an otherwise inaccessible place to own a Sony smartphone.
I already mentioned the handset uses the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and today we have great news that another update is rolling out that boosts the performance up to version 11.3.A.2.33 firmware. It is the next level up from the older 11.3.A.2.23 firmware, but as far we can tell, it still sits on Android 4.1 and not 4.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean let alone a variant of Kitkat.
The main features in the 4.1.1 are the multi-view window for two apps at a time, but the physical display size of this smartphone is only 3.5-inches so even that comes with limitations. We don’t expect it to go further along and we certainly don’t see Kitkat coming in the future, so we can’t stress enough how important it is for device owners to have a bug-free experience; sadly that hasn’t happened.
Many people who have updated their handsets to this 11.3.A.2.33 software are experiencing WiFi connectivity problems; the good news is that we have a fix for it. Thanks to Blog Lovin forum member JiMiTVAiDYA we don’t need to wait for another update to come around again to give us relief. Apart from dishing out the bugs in its own right, this firmware arrives in to fix some bugs of its own. Not much else is known at this point until we get commenters replying with what they have found because Sony didn’t offer any change-log. That immediately tells us that there likely isn’t any features worth noting.
It will arrive over the air as a software notification or users can navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Update and take a look manually at whether it has come in or not yet. Otherwise, people can download the FTF file direct from here, or from the Sony PC companion.
