If you own the Sony Xperia Z2 D6503 smartphone it’s time to download the PC Companion if you haven’t already and update to the new 23.0.1.A.3.12 firmware. The new build is only available from the Sony Companion and won’t be rolling out OTA and arriving as a notification. We presume this is a minor update that revolves around Google security patches, bug fixes and minor tweaks since the Japanese phone-maker isn’t issuing any change-log for this build.

Since the earlier version of KitKat comes with white status and navigation bars, new emoji faces, wireless printing from the cloud, full screen album art and movie art from the lock screen, new location menu, Easter Eggs and more, we know there’s not much patching left until Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Those preferring to do things by the mobile book will prefer backing up the data. Helium is an application available from Google Play that lets users sync phone contacts, backup SMS texts and market apps.

The new firmware is only available for the D6503 model number. You can check yours by turning on the smartphone and navigating to Settings > About Device. Sadly, since there is no change-log, we don’t know what’s inside until people report feedback. Therefore, if you are running the latest software update we’d appreciate it if people were leaving comments and telling us about their experience. Are you witnessing any new features? Do you know the total file size for further insights?
