The PTCRB website has certified a new firmware build, namely 19.1.1.C.0.56 that is a new version of Android 4.4.3 KitKat if the leaked information is anything to go by. That’s noteworthy because the other big name Xperia smartphones and tablet skipped from Android 4.4.2 KitKat to Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

You should know that we do not have any official word on what features will come with this software update when it commences OTA. However, we know from covering many others that by and large 4.4.3 consists of OpenSSL security fixes, Camera improvements, Bluetooth and Mobile Networks tweaks, Gallery app optimization and more. We presume Sony will have some extra goodies in the store specifically for the Xperia name.

The screenshot featured on Gizmobolt all but confirms the build will arrive shortly. Make sure you keep an eye on the notification panel to see if any new over the air release is ready for installation. Try to install the build from a stable WiFi connection and avoid using the mobile data plan. If you see the note and wish to use it at a later date, go to Settings, About Phone and open the ‘Software Updates’ option from the menu.

If you notice the KitKat update ready, please leave comments here after you discover all that’s new with your smartphone. The new update should reach all phones soon, but remember that it will roll out in phases. That means no two people will see it coming at the same time and it can be days or even weeks before we see it roll out to everyone.
