If you reside in France or China then you may have experienced some difficulties with the previous 14.3.A.0.757 firmware that came out a while ago. Now, thanks to Sony and the carrier, a new edition namely 14.3.A.0.761 is out for the Xperia Z1 C6902 and Z1 compact. There is no official changelog released, but we can break it down the best we can for you below.

The Xperia Z1 Compact launched on the 6th of January this year and later released on the 24 of January. It came with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and has since been updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It is a new addition of that same KitKat. It is minuscule coming in at 1.9 megabytes. Suffice to say that it will not be carrying any features with it at all other than the bug fixes that were found to be in the last build that I mentioned earlier.

Sony Xperia Z1

The Z1 flagship was that handset that had a great life until its successor came out six months after it. That buried it ‘s named quicker than anything else possibly would have. The original unveiled on the 4th of September and was out later during the same month. It came with Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean and had seen numerous updates since then namely Android 4.3, 4.4 and 4.4.2. This build is for both of these devices, and it will boost the current chocolate software version up a level minus the bugs.

A significant reason for the small size is because Android 4.4.3 is already rolling out to many devices although we have not yet seen any for Sony. T-Mobile are leading the way for nexus, HTC and Samsung so hopefully those using these two smartphone will be coming soon because they were T-mobile exclusives! That means you are in the best hands possible.

It hasn’t been a great time for T-Mobile as we have just reported them fixing the MMS and SMS bug that users discovered in the Galaxy S5. It is a similar situation where they brought out that update just so affected owners could be running smoothly until the next update that has features in it.

Just like any other OTA update, it will come in as a system notification first. However, if you are not feeling lucky there is a way to check the system manually by going to Settings > About Device > Software Update > System Updates and then finally check for updates. It will ping back any results and fill you in if yours is ready to for installing. It is an over the air update meaning that all people in China and France will receive it at different times. There is no way to predict when or to who it will come first or last. Just be patient and within the next week or two it will have reached your device. Some will be lucky enough to see it available today.

Just like any time we update manually it is also important to take the necessary action and stay safe with OTA releases. What I mean by that is to backup the photos, video and music to an app such as Helium. Sync the contacts and other valuable data to Google Gmail or Samsung Kies if you already have an account. The full-sized 5.0-inch display ex-flagship has 16 GB available built-in storage space. You can buy an additional 64 Gb with microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC storage expansion if that is all gone already. The compact edition also has the same options available for the memory.
