By having access to the root file system on the Huawei Ascend G510-0100, you are giving your device better app and network control. Once you root the Huawei Ascend smartphone, you can clear the cache of all apps with the Cache mate, remove ads with the AdFree, add a firewall with the Droid Wall, connect to your phone via VNC with Droid VNC Server, plus a whole lot more.
You’ll find most smartphones come with WiFi tethering options nowadays, but if yours doesn’t you will be interested in installing the Android Wi-Fi tether and Wireless tether apps. Backing up has never been easier than with the new Titanium Backup app you can install from the Google Play Store. Titanium is the bets backup solutions apart from taking a NANDroid backup.
The Files You Need
- Download the root file you need from this forum here.
- These are the steps to root the Huawei Ascend G510-0100 smartphone. Applying the steps on your device will result in you voiding the warranty. You can anytime get that warranty to work again by unrooting the device. That requires a different guide.
- You may only follow this guide on a Windows computer. There’s an exception to that: it does not work on any Microsoft Windows Surface tablet that is running Windows RT for an operating system. The Windows RT on some Surface tablets requires you to install apps from the Windows App Store only. That means you cannot install files at all on that OS.
Rooting the Huawei Ascend G510-0100
- Download the root file from the link above and shift the file over to the desktop of your Windows PC.
- Right-click over the file and choose the option to extract it here. Now the file is extracted.
- Make sure you have the USB Debugging Mode already turned on before you attempt to connect the device to the computer. Do that now by heading over to the Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode and check the box so it is now on.
- Connect the Huawei Ascend G510 to the computer with the USB cable.
- Copy the dload folder from the extracted archive to the root of the SD card. You’ll find that SD card folder when your device is connected to the computer and available from the ‘My Computer’ area of the OS, or something similar to My Computer depending on your OS version. The root of the SD card means keep it on the topmost folder and don’t hide it in any of the sub folder you might have.
- Turn the smartphone off by holding the Power button in until you know it’s off.
- Reboot the phone by holding the Power + Volume Down + Volume Up keys.
- Once done, it will install the Update.app file on your phone.
- Reboot the device again.
- Click the mouse over the rootx_start.bat file that you should see on the desktop of the computer after you extracted the file at the start.
- Running that program will now root your device.
- Installing the root checker app from the Google Play Store once your device has the root access just to make sure it is working.
