YouTube Shorts now offers up to 60 seconds of audio for short clips. Previously the limit was 15 seconds of audio. This of course means listeners will also get to hear up to an additional 45 seconds of audio from music and original audio.
Here is the tweet from Neal Mohan regarding the new YouTube Short audio capabilities:
We are rolling out a highly requested feature – you’ll soon be able to use more than 15 seconds of audio when you’re making a Short! Sounds from YouTube videos will allow up to 60s and music will allow up to 15s-60s, depending on licensing permissions…https://t.co/mNQ1FxyEwH pic.twitter.com/CmINllxHYY

Content creators are seemingly in love with creating short-form videos, but it remains to be seen if they will take to YouTube Shorts as easily as they did TikTok and Instagram.
YouTube Shorts is a short video platform designed to compete with Instagram and TikTok. Not many people have heard of YouTube Shorts yet, but the YouTube streaming platform has grown exponentially over the last five years and is getting nearly as much traffic as Google Search.
