DESCRIPTION
The homepage had large thumbnails with large titles beneath them. The titles were single words and represented different categories. I clicked on a random category and it opened in a new tab. I clicked a video within the category and it loaded another website (hdxtube.tv/) that to me represented a gateway site — that is, a site that opened as another porn tube site for the sake of getting traffic rather than answering the query, which was supposed to be a webpage with a video on it that I had chosen to view. Such tactics are not uncommon in the porn niche, but they have become less common in recent years. Usually, these gateway sites will offer a video most of the time that answers your clicks but sometimes will open another domain. They often put the gateway pages on the most alluring pictures on the page that they think will have the highest click-through rate. That way, they are minimizing the amount of black hat links on the page while maximizing their traffic from them. Not that gateway sites don’t necessarily represent malicious sites, but the underhanded tactic does represent poor character in people and therefore it is a suspicious site that needs investigating.
