DESCRIPTION
The homepage of fappenist.com showed a two-column blog with featured pictures or videos that took up the full width of the post excerpt. The post excerpts always kept the same dimensions which would sometimes allow for the full video to be shown in a smaller version such as a YouTube window that wasn’t yet full screen or part of an image if the image was larger than the available excerpt space. Notably, the images that didn’t always fit into the excerpt were purposefully chopped in locations to show the featured parts of the images, which I know takes effort to do as well as they were done. Most website themes don’t have these as an option by default, and even if they did, it would still take considerable work to edit. As for the content, it was videos and images that I had not seen before and they were alluring and I’m sure would entice the audience. The website was developed with performance in mind and I was impressed with the development and functionality in general. The only time it seemed slightly slow was when I scrolled and the screen would show me an overlay to let me know it was loading. However, that only made me sympathize with the otherwise bare-bones look: there was so much likable content that it still took time to load and it wouldn’t have been wise to slow the site down more with unnecessary features for design purposes. In my opinion, fappenist.com is likely to be run by an experienced web admin and I was able to easily appreciate the work put into their domain.
