Coinbase (coinbase.com) is a cryptocurrency exchange site. Coinbase.com was founded by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam in 2012. Coinbase operates like a typical online stock exchange only for cryptocurrency instead of stocks. Similar sites to Coinbase include CoinDesk, CoinGecko, Kraken, CoinMarketCap, Crypto, Cointelegraph, OpenSea, Binance, Decrypt, and Ledger. Cathie Wood has been a notable Coinbase investor and frequently has its stock ranked high in her main Ark Invest fund.
ALTERNATIVES
Similar sites to Coinbase include coindesk.com, coingecko.com, kraken.com, coinmarketcap.com, crypto.com, cointelegraph.com, opensea.io, binance.com, decrypt.co, and ledger.com.
DESCRIPTION
The homepage displayed the following message: “Buy. Sell. Trade. Trust. Coinbase is the easiest platform to buy and sell cryptocurrency. Make fast AUD deposits and withdrawals using PayID. Join 103 million+ customers.” Beneath the message was a ” get started” button. To the right of the text was a picture of a smartphone with the coinbase.com trading platform and its features. There was a mock profile of an account with 12,345.67 dollars shown on the screen in my local currency (AUD). In my opinion, Coinbase changes this picture to display the local currency of each visitor depending on where they are in the world when they visit because this is not an Australian website, nor is Australia a dominant market for the platform. In front of the main picture was another smaller image of using PayID to “top up” a Coinbase balance without fees. From my experience on the broker platform, it’s rare to have no fees today, so this feature was notable.

Is coinbase.com Safe?
Here, I analyzed coinbase.com for malware and malicious content to check if it was legit or a scam:
I checked coinbase.com on Sucuri, and it returned as a medium security risk.
Sucuri says coinbase.com is a medium security risk because it returned a 403 Forbidden status on the URL http://coinbase.com/.
Security hardening flaws:
- Missing security header for
ClickJacking Protection
. Affected pages:
https://www.coinbase.com/404javascript.js
I then ran a parasite scan with Unmask Parasites on coinbase.com, and it is suspicious.
Unmask Parasites cites 1 suspicious inline script:
(function(){window._cf_chl_opt={cvId: '3',cZone: "www.coinbase.com",cType: 'managed',cNounce: '40989',cRay: '84f110dd2873...
I also checked coinbase.com on VirusTotal, and it is clean.
URLVoid says coinbase.com passed all blocklist engines.
In conclusion, we graded coinbase.com no higher than relatively safe because it forbade the Sucuri scan with a 403 Forbidden status. and the suspicious inline script. OVERALL GRADE: Relatively Safe.

Coinbase as a stock is one of the largest holders in Cathie Wood's ARKK fund. It's stock price keeps skyrocketing. I view it as the most reliable crypto platform to sign up with. Its features are good and the service is reliable. I use Coinbase as the main crypto platform. You can use Coinbase to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies. Coinbase has one of the largest repositories for all the different crypto you can buy. I still like Tezos.
