If you are a subscriber to the T-Mobile phone carrier network and own the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone you should keep checking the display for a new OTA notification. The message will alert you of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop software update–the talk of the Mountain View town. You are now finding the latest version of Android available on any device coming directly to you. The build number for this one is UVU1DOB1.

Since the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the flagship smartphone for Sammy, it’s no surprise that it gets looked after well with the latest software installments. With that being said, you still have to wait for each phone carrier network to release the update and that’s where T-mobile have fallen behind. It’s true that many other device, including other S5’s are already up and running on this version. Read more about the official over the air update after the jump.

With that being said, let’s focus on the positives: you are finding heaps of new features arriving for your phone including Android Beam, Android RunTime overtaking the old Dalvik system, a new Easter Egg, material design available from the Ui and app drawer, tap and go NFC payments plus still a great deal more. Other standout features include the new battery saver mode which gives up to an extra 90 minutes of life, camera updates, security updates, multiple device sharing, screen pinning, updates to the notification screen, new smart notifications and still more. Also look out for a new Quick Settings menu, the ability to pick up songs, apps and more where you left off and around a hundred more features that you will notice after using the operating system. It’s also much faster and gives better performance compared to the older KitKat OS.

Be aware that all over the air signals arrive at different times for device owners. Some people can already tap the ‘download’ and ‘install now’ options from the display, while others could be waiting days or even weeks. It does eventually find its way around to all owners. If you want to try to skip the waiting line you can search for the file to download manually through Odin. At this time we do not have our hands on that file. Sam Mobile is a great place to check in the future if you are looking.

As always, we are keen to hear how you went installing the file and what you think of the new Lollipop update. Some people are complaining that it comes with quite a few bugs. As such, we know the folks out of the Googleplex are already working on rolling out 5.0.1 and 5.0.2. With that being said, the official 5.0 Lollipop is fine to install on your daily device.

Update: you can download the official firmware build from this direct Sam Mobile Link here. From there you know what to do: download the file to the desktop of the computer, install Odin 3.09 on the same, boot the smartphone in download mode. Now connect the S5 to the computer with the USB cable, leave Odin’s default settings and upload the firmware file through the AP button. Make sure you extract the file on the desktop first and only upload the executable file. Now click the start button in Odin and wait for the flashing to stop.
