A fresher version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, namely 18.3.B.0.31 is rolling out for the Sony Xperia M2 Dual smartphones as we speak. The notice comes a week after we saw the original M2 update commencing. If you remember at the time we said we knew the Dual will follow suit, but we just weren’t sure when. That time is now, according to the official Sony team who released a page to show what features are coming in the new build.
Android 4.4.2 comes with a lot of specific features for the Sony-based devices, including some PlayStation 4 UI options, more native apps coming to the existing portfolio, Experia Themes pack with 280 different ideas and Smartwear compatibility with the smartwatch and smartbands. The major inclusion here is the app to SD card functionality that is making its way around to more handsets.
In addition to those, we know this number of chocolate software comes with cloud printing, immersive mode, white status and navigation bars, transparent status bar, new color Emoji, improved landscape keyboard, album art from the lock screen and much more.
The update is arriving over the air so owners should keep an eye out on the notification bar. It will come at different times for everybody because it rolls out in stages that nobody can predict. You can check by navigating to Settings > About Device and check for updates to see if it is ready for you. Otherwise, look for the file to become available online for a manual installation if you don’t want to wait for it OTA.
We recommend a stable home WiFi internet connection for installing the software instead of using the mobile data. If opting to use the mobile data, make sure you backup the contacts, texts, photo galleries and all other sensitive data because the risk of it needing a full factory reset is greater.
Please leave a comment if you have received the new build for your device and let us know what you have found.
