The Sony Xperia M2 is ready for a new OTA update to launch shortly. The news breaks after we acknowledge that the PTCRB website has certified a modern build, namely 18.3.C.0.39 that we believe is another version of the same Android 4.4.2 KitKat. According to the Xperia Blog, this is only a minor update that will bring diminutive tweaks and bug relief for those suffering at the moment. Phone manufacturers prefer to give aid to those with bugs instead of carry out a new feature rich update, such as the Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 KitKat.
The Japan-based phone maker has already issued the 4.4.2 that comes with the new Xperia UI that’s a evocative of PlayStation 4′s interface. In addition, there are white status bar icons, transparent status and navigation bars, color emoji, immersive mode, cloud printing, full screen album available from the lock screen and more. There were several goodies packed in as a Sony exclusive such as the new Xperia Theme package.
Suffice to say that the owners of the M2 will not be as stoked as they were with the build I just mentioned until we begin to see the new Android L. However, for those suffering from bugs there’s nothing more significant than getting those fixed.
Keep in mind that this is only a certification and not an official OTA release just yet. We are predicting that day to come some time over the next few weeks. If you notice a notification coming in alerting you that the fresh software update is ready for the installation, please leave a comment here and tell us what you find inside.
If you are running custom firmware it will not come as a notification and you will have to download the file manually. Otherwise you have the option of reverting back to the stock software and waiting. We’ll be back with more information about this build once the over the air treatment commences and we have more information.
