It seems like just yesterday that we told you the release date for the Z2 in India and now thankfully we can also fill you in on how much it will cost. Sony has released information that tells us that the Xperia Z2 price in India will be Rs 49,990. Converting that to US dollars today equals $833. That is almost the same price it will come as over in the States.

Although it looks similar to what we have come to know from the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation out of Kōnan Minato, Tokyo, Japan it comes with something extra this year that Indians in particular might find useful. The feature is that the smartphone is dust proof. Some parts around India can be very dusty and from that view, it is a device that looks almost made for some people over that part of the world.

If you want to learn more about this phone now that you know the price to weigh up if you will buy it or not I will list lots of helpful information. Firstly, it will be running Android 4.4.2 KitKat as the OS. It is normal for a flagship and we would not expect anything less than the latest version of Android to be running on something so expensive. In many respects, it is arguably almost ready for another update so it is seen as more of a negative aspect than a positive one. We are also beginning to see many handsets of lesser quality be updated to the 4.4.2 KitKat via OTA. Furthermore, it has a significant display of 5.2-inches. We know Samsung is well known for having big screens, but today I also received an inside tip that the iPhone 6 might only be 4.7 inches. It is not confirmed, but it comes from sources that I trust. That means if you want something that is big and bigger than the competition the Z2 is a great option. Making that size worthwhile is a resolution boasting 1080 x 1920 pixels and a 424ppi. If I am to nitpick, another rumor that I have said all along broke today of their almost certainly being an S5 prime that has a 2K resolution. That makes the ones of today look subpar. Making it worse, both the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5 have a higher pixel density than the Xperia Z2.

Now for some good news. The K Zoom was unveiled and everyone went crazy over that it was 20.7 megapixel camera. Well, guess what? The Z2 also is a 20.7 megapixels snapper only it does not have a bulk optical zoom hanging off the front of it making it seem more like a camera than a phone. I do not want to sound like a Sammy hater because I am not for a second, but I would prefer a device that looks like this that Sony has made if it is giving me the same quality picture. Making it considerably better is that it has many of the other camera features with it including the CMOS image sensor, touch to focus, face detection, smile detection, digital camera stabilization, and Geotagging. There are also white balance presets, high dynamic range mode, panorama, effects burst mode and digital zoom!

According to our friends, if you buy this soon in India there is a special offer of a free Sony SmartBand. This band is the first item we have seen marking the Sony wearable technology era, so if you are an aficionado of this company then that should interest you given the fact that wearables will likely be everywhere soon. We are tipping a big boom for at least the watches at this stage. These bands were first unveiled at CES 2014 if you want to investigate further about them. A main focal point, according to a speech given on stage is its fitness abilities, as well as social media and other online networking.

Buyer Beware: If the rumors that are strong today are true, we are not far away from seeing Snapdragon 805 chips in smartphone. The system chip inside this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AB. That means in terms of what it is capable of giving performance-wise will become outdated sooner than what many buyers would like. With that being said, there is nothing wrong with the performance of the 801 processor and if you have no idea about internal hardware you will not know any different. Where people will notice the main difference transpiring onto the screen is with hardcore gaming via applications.

Sony has also made a tablet Z2 that could also be coming to India down the track. If we find out any news on that we will post it shortly.
