If you are looking to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos firmware, you can now do so with the latest 4.1.2 Jellybean firmware which has become available. The galaxy Grand Duos firmware update has been labelled the XXAMC8 update. There has also been rumors that soon owners of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos will be able to upgrade to the Android 4.2 Jellybean firmware, however, it is not available yet. For now you will have to make do with the 4.2.1 Jellybean which is a nice update in itself. If you are interested in installing this firmware update follow the guide after the jump.
As usual, please ensure you have backed up your device before proceeding just in case something were to go wrong. This is an official update for the device, however, things can still go wrong if it is not your day and your luck has run out. Also make sure you have USB debugging mode enabled and you have at least 80% battery charged up. Once you have done that, upgrading is fairly straight forward. Please follow the step by step guide below to upgrade your firmware to the 4.2.1 Jellybean update.
Before you get started download the following files:
- Download Odin 3.07 (source XDA)
- Download Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XXAMC8 For Galaxy Grand Duos I9082
Step 1. Power down the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos and open up ODIN on the PC.
Step 2. Hold the volume up and home keys simultaneously and power on the device to recovery mode.
Step 3. Connect the device to the PC with the USB cable supplied. Once your ID button turns yellow inside ODIN you know that it is connected successfully.
Step 4. Inside Odin, select the PDA tab. From there select the “I9082XXAMC5_I9082ODDMB2__I9082XXAMA9_HOME.tar.md5″ file. This will now load everything you need. You do not need to do anything else. keep the re-partition box unchecked as is.
Step 5. Press Start inside ODIN to begin the firmware update.
