Thirteen countries in total are in the midst of receiving an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean over the air update for the Galaxy Grand Duos.
Whilst not exactly a new firmware, or a new device for that matter, the Galaxy Duos had only received a 4.2.2 update in Russia to date. In an effort to catch up, they have decided to push out a big roll out of 13 countries in total right around the world. There are places in Africa like Kenya, places in Europe like Switzerland and places in Asia such as Indonesia and Thailand that will all be getting this into their settings over the next few days.
These OTA’s can generally take a few weeks to complete. There is no special way, or any tricks you can do to your device to make it come quicker. Any ritual you may have performed before you appeared is pure coincidence. It will simply arrive to your device when it is ready to do so. I included that fact after a noticed some chatter about what some certain people did which may have influenced the arrival of their. Whilst amusing, it was necessary to speak up to stop 100o other people doing the same thing.
The name may seem old, but the Duos was actually released only last December of 2012. When it came out of the box it had the Android 4.2.1 JB, so this is eagerly awaited by many.
What does this update have in store for owners?
Other than the obvious 4.2.2 jump up, it will have a host of stability improvements for everyone. It also has heaps of new features such as the Daydream mode, lock screen widgets to play with and organize and some UI differences.
Those of you wishing to update manually, should be able to do so in a few days time. As of now there is no file being made available by Samsung just yet.
This firmware has the baseband number of I9082XXUBMF2 and is over 400Mb in size. Because it is so large, it is advised you download it via a stable Wi-Fi connection, as it will take some time to complete.
