Boost mobiles no contract Samsung Galaxy Rush running Androids ICS is a great device consisting of a large 3.5” screen, 3MP camera and 2GB ROM of internal memory.

If you are the owner of one of these fantastic, low-cost smartphones you will be very pleased to know there is a root method available for the device. The root comes courtesy of Developer Shabbypenguin and will not only give you that much desired root access but will also install CWM on the device.

Details of Note

  • You will need to make sure you have the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers. This is necessary for when you connect the device to the computer. You have to connect it to the computer in order to root the device.
  • You will also need to have USB debugging mode enabled in order to complete this guide. You can follow the link through that I provided and find out how to do that if you don’t know already. This helps to connect your Android phone with the PC.

Before you begin

Please ensure you have at least 80% battery life on your device.

You are rooting the Samsung Galaxy Rush only and no other device.

You have the appropriate Samsung drivers installed on your PC. Make sure that once they are installed you have rebooted your PC. You can find the download link below:

Again, make sure you back up your device.

Root Samsung Galaxy Rush & Install ClockworkMod Recovery

Step 1. First off you will need to download the follow files:

Step 2. Once you have downloaded the above files you will need to extract the ODIN zip to your desktop and save both the CWM Recovery Tar and Super SU Zip to your desktop.

Step 3. Open Odin on your PC by clicking on the file and then right-clicking on the ODIN exe file. You will need to select ‘Run as Administrator’.

Step 4.When ODIN opens you will need to select the ‘PDA’ button, then locate and select the ‘CWM-Rush-M830-Final.tar’ file you should have saved to your desktop in step 2.

Step 5. There will be several boxes on this screen. Make sure the ONLY box which is checked is ‘Auto-Reboot’.

Step 6. Now grab your Galaxy Rush and switch it off. Once off you can boot it into ‘Download Mode’, to achieve this simply hold down the ‘Volume Down’ + ‘Power’ buttons simultaneously.

Step 7. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable. At this stage windows may install drivers.

Step 8.Your device needs to be recognized by ODIN, you will be able to see if it is from the open ODIN box. You should see the message ‘Added!!’ appear within the status message box.

Step 9. Now from within ODIN select ‘Start’. This will begin the flashing of CWM to your device.

Step 10. Wait for this to finish. You will know it has been successful when your device reboots and you can see a ‘PASS!’ message with a green background in ODIN.

Step 11. Now you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed we need to root your device. You will need to first transfer the SuperSU-v0.98+.zip file (saved to desktop in step 2) to your devices memory.

Step 12. Switch off your device once more and boot it into CWM recovery by holding down the ‘Volume Up’ + ‘Power’ buttons simultaneously.

Step 13. Using the volume keys to navigate to and select ‘Install zip from sdcard’ using the ‘Power’ button.

Step 14. Now select ‘Choose zip from sdcard’ before selecting the ‘SuperSU-v0.98+.zip’which you saved to your devices memory in step 11.

Step 15. Confirm this action within the next screen and watch as CWM begins flashing the file.

Step 16. Once finished you will need to select ‘Go Back’ > ‘Reboot system now’. This will boot you back to your devices home screen.
