The Galaxy Pocket is a rather ironically named Android smartphone because it won’t be putting a dint in your pocket when you go to buy it. Having said that, it is great value for its price and if you’re a fan of Android, you get to enjoy all of that Android appeal still which is great. Owning a fairly cheap device does have its upsides. For instance, you should be a lot more inclined to root it since if your worst fears were to come true and something were to go wrong, there isn’t so much riding on the loss. In almost all cases, there is a solution to any problem anyway (other than bricking your device), but as a world, we still haven’t quite gotten over that stimulus of opening up these devices is risky behavior.
Notes:
- Make sure you have the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers. It is possible you have this already if you use the device regularly, in which case you can skip this step. This is necessary to connect the device to the computer, in order to upgrade the official firmware.
- You will also need to have USB debugging mode enabled in order to complete this guide. You can follow the link that I provided and find out how to do that if you don’t know already.
- Before you begin this tutorial, please make sure the mobile has plenty of battery left on it. We normally recommend to have 80% charged. Also note that by rooting this device you are voiding the warranty, however, it can be obtained again by simply unrooting.
