Most people know how to root Samsung devices with Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root tool, but sometimes we come across a Samsung smartphone that is not yet compatible. For many of those times we can install a custom recovery and then use Chainfire’s other famous tool: SuperSU.

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy A7 device is great for many reasons. Most people will be rooting to use apps and not new ROMs at this young stage of the Galaxy A7’s life. Though custom ROMs might become available in the future, most will want to remove bloatware using the Titanium Backup app. Others might be looking to speed up the device and boost the battery life using applications like Set CPU.

  1. Download the SuperSU zip file directly to a computer and drag it over to the desktop environment.
  2. Connect the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone to the computer with the USB cable you use for charging the battery.
  3. Copy the SuperSU over to the root of the internal storage SD card. (The root of the SD card is referring to it not being hidden in one of the sub folders).
  4. Unplug your Galaxy A7 2016 from the computer and the USB cable.
  5. Boot the Galaxy A7 up in recovery mode and the TWRP will boot since you installed it earlier.
  6. Choose the ‘Install’ option from the main recovery menu and follow the instructions to flash the SuperSU.

Once you have installed your SuperSU file from your custom recovery, go back to the main screen in TWRP and choose the option that says it will reboot the system. Your Samsung Galaxy A7 will now boot back in normal mode and you are ready to start installing some of your root-requiring applications.
