We have new firmware certifications for the Sony Xperia M2 smartphone and the M2 Aqua. The new firmware build numbers are 18.3.1.C.0.21 and 18.3.1.A.0.21 respectively. The aforementioned builds are much different compared to the current builds they sit on. That means there’s every chance we see Android 4.4.4 KitKat or at least Android 4.4.3. Either way, it’s reassuring of one of the latter stages of Android KitKat coming your way.
Since most of the great features come with Android 4.4.2 including transparent status and navigation bars, wireless printing, new color emoji support, immersive mode, new location menu, full screen album art from the lock screen and movie art, we know the final stages or KitKat don’t come with as many features. However, you will find updates so some of the Sony native services and applications, plus bug fixes and minor performance enhancements.
You should know that this is just the certification stages and not the official release. Since the PTCRB website are finished with the firmware, we can start seeing the software updates arriving within a matter of days or weeks. Keep an eye on your devices notifications panel if it starts rolling. We’ll have a full report on what’s inside once it does arrive over the air to the Sony PC companion.
