Remember when I said I found a picture of the G3 that looked a lot like the iPhone 6 Mockup I had just finished writing about moments earlier? Well, it turns out that it was the official LG G3 design that we were looking at as more images have leaked today that reveal different photos but of the same smartphone and everybody are calling them authentic.
What is the one thing I did not pick up on or mention when originally talking about the images? The fact that it is made of plastic. Yes, it seems as though that white body that we can see all glossy and shimmering means that it is likely a plastic outer shell and casing that is coming our way. It will presumably go right across the world and to all markets.
I’ve touched on it a million times and I’ll briefly touch on it again; the fact that Sammy release the S5 in plastic and now the G3 is too, combined with Quad HD and Snapdragon 805 processors coming, I am severely worried of at least these two companies bringing out more premium edition smartphones to their line ups later in 2014.
Sticking to facts that we do know, the LG G3 release date is May 27 and it is made out of glossy polycarbonate. The images shown in this article are 100% real and it is what you will be getting when you buy it. It is obviously just the white version and although the images do not show us great views from all angles they do enough to make a gray border visible between the white case and the dark screen (because it is off).
I like this LG design better than anything they have created in their previous work. The older designs reminded me a lot of what Sony produce with the Xperia range and it is a look I am not particularly fond of from the eyes’ perspective. I am glad they have gone in a different direction and at the same time, still remarkably managed to look unique while doing so.
The G3 is expected to be popular and the “Life’s Good” company has already made plans to release a mini variant in the near future. That will be much of the same in terms of looks, but have a smaller display and lesser specifications under the hood.
The LG G2 is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the latest operating system, Android have available, and the current one we see the roll out to numerous devices lately. There is heaps of information about what features it brings all throughout this site.
It was thought to come with a fingerprint scanner when rumors surfaced back in December of 2013, but it looks like that is not happening anymore. What does make this smartphone interesting, however, is that it has its own ARM-based chipset, code-named Odin. On top of that, it will also come with a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch display combined with an astonishing 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and pixel density of 534 ppi. In my eyes that is the standout feature here that could, unfortunately, be short-lived if the Quad HD displays soon become the norm among all smartphones. The bezel is super thin and is part of a uni-body shell so nothing can be removed. It has a 16 megapixel camera and a 2.1 megapixel front-facing snapper. It is losing power under the hood by only packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 8974-AA. It does come with 32 GB of built-in internal storage and offers a further 64 GB of external storage expansion via MicroSD, MicroSDHC and MicroSDXC memory cards.
