Smartphone companies might not do a very good job at avoiding leaked parts, but when it comes to official details at the price, usually we don’t know what we are in for until the big launch day arrives. Most leaks spurn from workers who are around the parts and specs that inevitably can’t be trusted, but when it comes to the inner circles of companies darkest secrets such as price they can often prove next to impossible to reveal before the official unveiling.

However, once in a while, websites have been known to slip up as they are given details before the launch so that they can display these facts on time and not late. If a rookie is given the job of making a website look the way it should sometimes we get hints and exposed to information that we shouldn’t have been if the company like LG had its way. It is humorous, but don’t laugh too hard because a slip up like this can leave the person responsible without a job and likely will in this case again.

LG G3

The leak comes all the way from Finland where website Kasuplan has shown us that the G3 will cost 613 Euros. That equals $838 US dollars and 63 cents if I convert that with the way the currency is today.

Interestingly another store called Multitronic has leaked their information about pricing, but theirs says 678 for the 16 GB and 730 Euros for the 32 GB model. Converting that again to the US dollar gives us $928.66 and 999.88. The latter sounds a lot like the price tag we have become accustomed to seeing in stores. However, some blogs have been quick to point out that pre-release prices are subject to change and are often only a rough guide when given.

Could it be that Sony have deliberately leaked these prices to gauge what consumers are feeling from comments online and social media? What are the chances of two places, both from Finland, leaking information that is different?

Despite of what the revelation turns out many are hoping that for a price like the ones shown it needs to have better speakers than the G2 model because for only a few dollars more people can buy a good quality laptop. That is an interesting point too. The prices of smartphone are pushing the bigger devices of laptops these days.

Whatever the truth turns out as, lets offer a few specs about what we know the G3 will have. We know that phone carriers AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint have already signed up to sell this one. It will be driving the newest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. The display is 5.5-inches, paired with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and pixel density of 534 ppi. Whats more, the display will also feature a multi-touch touchscreen, proximity sensor and light sensor.

The camera is a 16 megapixel rear-facing snapper with a 2.1 megapixels “selfie” snapper. It is on criterion with what we see today with the rare occasion of a 20.7 megapixel camera. One thing I know is that it sure beats out the HTC M8 4 megapixels.

As for the hardware it is likely to sport a Snapdragon 801 Qualcomm CPU with a Quad core, 2300 MHz, Krait 400 processor. That will also be accompanied by a fairly standard Adreno 330 that they all seem to have these days.

It has all the bell and whistles including the usual online support services such as Google+, Picasa and YouTube.

Update: Another leak has happened at the official LG UK product page as the device has gone live with the model number of D855. The prices range from 613 and 729 Euros who are very similar to our Finnish prices of $840 – $1000 range. You can view the official teaser called “coming Soon” here:
