Today we hear whispers that it will, in fact, be Lenovo who have plans to race out and be the next smartphone manufacturer to take on the G3. They could be so far into that idea that they will beat out the new Galaxy S5 prime and the new HTC One premium M8. Both HTC and Samsung released devices very early in the year in anticipation of releasing another Quad HD variant later in 2014 that also is equipped with the Snapdragon 805 processor. The processor is the amount of power a mobile device has and the 805 is a new benchmark for Android-based operating systems.
There’s a chance I am too critical with the hardware because the LG G3 was announced today and it sports the Snapdragon 801 along with a 13 MP camera. It is only rumor that suggest we will see the Snapdragon 805 at this time so who knows, maybe Lenovo will be giving us the best that there is if it gets released soon enough. Either way my comments are something to be wary about if you are the person that doesn’t like getting a bad deal hardware-wise. Buying into a full-priced investment when the system chip is aging is never a good thing.
It doesn’t stop there either. According to reports, Lenovo is also giving people what they want and making a battery that lasts extra long. This new battery will go in the same smartphone and will feature a 4000mAh capacity.
Not many people know the name Lenovo because they were a player overseas until last year when they announced plans to crack into the US market. They then went and bought Motorola from Google for into the billions.
One thing we don’t know yet is the name of this new smartphone they plan on bringing out. We know it will be the successor to the Vibe Z2 and some say it will be the Vibe Z2 Pro although there is no confirmation on the name yet by representatives.
What we have here is not a smartphone that is going to give consumers the best of everything though and, therefore, it should be priced accordingly. Word is that it will have the Snapdragon 801 at a time when we are anticipating 805 to take over the market. The processor is clocked at 2.5GHz. It will also have a 16MP OIS rear-facing shooter that has dual LED flash. Of course, the main attraction here is the QHD 2560 x 1440 screen resolution. By looking at the hardware given there is nothing groundbreaking, but at the same time, there is nothing bad about this mobile.
It strives for being state of the art in certain areas and those areas are aiming at what people want most in a smartphone. The intention here is giving consumers as much ‘bang for their buck’ as possible and not dishing out brand new technology in parts where people don’t want it.
So, what about the looks? People want a device that looks modern and fantastic so Lenovo are planning to have a 6-inch display that takes up most of the screen real estate with ultra-thin bezels. It’s a look that I love and we have seen countless concept phones coming up with this but nothing in life to suggest that is the way we would be heading for real. The time could be starting now. To get a better idea of what I mean all you have to do it watch any of the techno-thriller movies such as Paranoia where these displays is used.
Anyhow, we might not know the name or the rest of the specs, but we do have some leaked photos to show off. You can view them below in full size
