The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.3 is receiving a new software update, boosting the OS to a new version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The new build number is KOT49H.T707AUCU1ANJ5, so be on the lookout for a notification arriving on your tablet. The new software update is part of a grand rollout for all AT&T subscribers who own aging Samsung products.

After installing the update, users will have enhancements to carrier billing, the AT&T mailing app, YPMobile, Keeper, bug fixes and more. Since we already know 4.4.2 to come with many features including white status bar icons, wireless printing, new color Emoji, immersive mode and full screen album art from the lock screen, we know this installment is minor. The total file size is just over 30 MB’s. That’s not a great deal of data, so the time downloading will be short. Nevertheless, we still recommend using the WiFi connection instead of the mobile data to avoid high traffic from other users installing the same update as you at the same time.

Remember that all OTA’s roll out in stages, therefore no two people will witness it at the same time. You could already have it waiting or yours might come towards the end of the week. Nobody predicts any data loss coming from official software updates issued by the device carriers and manufacturers. However, if you want to stay safe and clear from losing data you can back up before choosing to accept the file. Furthermore, should you wish to download it at a later date, you can put it on hold and stopover at the Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check For Updates and start the installation manually that way.

Are you using the new software update already? Did you notice the changes? Drop us a comment and tell us what you think.
