The 2013 version of the Google Nexus 7 (WiFi version) has just been updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This is the very last version of JB, before it will get the jump up to the new Kit Kat, released a few weeks ago.

This is now rolling out over the air (OTA) to selected devices around the world. Be sure to check your tablets settings to see if it has arrived as a present to you yet. This is expected to take up to a few weeks before it makes its way around to everybody.

Android has given this update the build number of JSS15R, and it is only for the WiFi models. Because it’s gaining an entire number, this is considered as one of the more minor updates for the nexus 7 this year. There will be the usual bug fixes and stability/performance improvements, but it is only 8MB in size. That is a really small upgrade. Most upgrades come in at around the 160MB range.

The Google Nexus 7 was launched a few weeks ago now. We originally covered its release in New York over the American summertime. This of course is always one of the busiest times in tech where many devices are released.

Over the coming days ahead, hopefully this will also be given out as an official firmware file which is downloaded manually for all of you out there who need that.
