Apple don’t always use big-time actors in their advertisements, but they are fast developing a rapport for being the Cupertino company with celebrities in their ads. The first celebrity to star in any Apple commercial is Kevin Coster in 1982. From there Jeff Goldblum starred in three from 1998 to 2000, with various others taking the limelight after. Now we have Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon. As you probably know, Jimmy stars in The Tonight Show.
The new commercial is all about the “Voice Text” feature. No longer do we have to write the text messages with our hands. Voice text is a new inclusion with iOS 8 and the default iMessage application from Apple. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus come with iOS 8 out of the box so naturally they’re advertising those two smartphones with the messaging feature.
Those who type slowly will find Voice Text extremely useless and proficient. There’s also many other reasons that make it great, including if you don’t know how to spell a word but you don’t know how to say it. Apple will handle the rest and the default software can automatically pick up on the word you are saying and spell it for you. You don’t need me to fill you in on everything the new feature is handy for; that’s why Jimmy and Justin are here for. You can watch the full clip below strumming the usual fruit company beats in the background.
To serve as a refresher, if you haven’t updated to iOS 8 yet you can do so by navigating your way to Settings > General > Software Update and start the installation that way. Those with the iPhone 4 or under cannot update to the latest software since it’s not supported.
